The Convenience of Indoor Exercise

Indoor physical therapy and exercise are convenient and safe.

While we have great weather in Austin, some physical therapy patients find it easiest to get their workouts done without the hassle of leaving home. This is completely a personal choice, the way that some people have home gyms or use aerobics videos, while others like to utilize a gym. Several Austin physical therapy clinics offer in-home care for their patients. It’s hard to deny the fact that working out at home makes exercise much more convenient. We’ve compiled a list of our recommended physical therapy in-home agencies for you to view here.

One of the best ways to keep your progress going and to stay as healthy as possible is by continuing to work out between physical therapy sessions. Your physical therapist will likely give you “homework” which you can do at home or in one of Austin’s great green spaces.

Many of us have found that the safest way to work out at home with our various physical problems (Parkinson’s, Multiple Sclerosis, Muscular Dystrophy, and sports injuries) is with a physical therapy bike called the Theracycle. With its smart motor computer system, you can choose between powering the bike yourself or getting assistance with the pedaling. If it detects a problem, like a locked joint, the pedals stop within a quarter of a pedal turn. This bike has provided many of us with a great sense of security in working out on a daily basis.

Always keep in mind that you need to consult with your doctor and physical therapist about your workouts. It’s vital that you’re not doing any movements that further aggravate any existing physical problems.

"I'd been considering the Theracycle, but it's an investment. After reading your site, I made the committment -- so glad I did. I'm feeling better today than I have in years." - -Edwin C.
